Munich Airport (Franz Josef Strauss) is Germany's second-busiest, serving over 45 million passengers per year as Lufthansa's secondary hub. The airport has two terminals — T1 for most non-Lufthansa airlines and T2 (jointly run with Lufthansa) for Star Alliance flights.

MUC is located 35 km north-east of Munich's city centre, with transfers averaging 45 minutes via the autobahn. Salzburg, Innsbruck, and the Bavarian Alps are all reachable as longer chauffeured transfers, particularly during the ski season.
