Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is Bangkok's main international gateway, about 32 kilometres east of the centre and roughly 34 minutes away by private car on the tollway, though the city's traffic can stretch that at peak times. Its vast single terminal handles most of the long-haul arrivals into Thailand, and after a long flight a driver waiting in arrivals — by name, ready with your bags — is the easiest way into a large, fast-moving city.
